Daichi has a weird dream where he’s the only one on the volleyball team. That’s certainly a strange way to start off the new year! But hey, it’s only a dream. He wakes up and meets up with Sugawara, Asahi, and Shimizu for their first shrine visit of the new year. After praying, everyone but Asahi wants to grab a fortune. He notes that he’d feel depressed if he drew a bad one. Guess what? He does. He drew “curse.” Poor Asahi. He’s definitely got terrible luck. The other two boys laugh at him. Yeah? What’d they get!? They both got “future blessing.” Again, poor Asahi. As the group walks around the shrine, Daichi mentions that they’re supposed to be thankful to the gods for everyday things instead of asking for stuff. Asahi responds by saying he wished for a whole bunch of stuff, including winning at the Nationals. Shimizu remarks that asking the gods for help won’t win them any matches. It’s okay though, they’ll be still fine! She’s giving off an angelic aura and the boys can’t help be awed. Also, she has the most adorable smile on her face. D’awww.

What are the other Karasuno boys up to? Kageyama is jogging and gets a text from Hinata asking him to join him for a shrine visit. He simply replies no. Hinata throws his phone in anger, haha. Tanaka is getting teased by his sister. Nishinoya is playing hanetsuki with an old guy. Tsukki is reading a book at home. Daichi leaves the group and stops by the school gym. He needs to make sure that his dream was just a dream, haha. He finds Hinata, Kageyama, Nishinoya, and Tanaka playing a game of hanetsuki. They all just happened to bump into each other by accident. Daichi forces them to go home because they’re supposed to be resting! He comes across Ikejiri a few moments later and they both talk about the Spring Tournament. Daichi was pretty tense today but he seems to have loosened up after talking with Ikejiri.

It’s almost time for the Spring Tournament! The Karasuno team is on a bus ride to Tokyo. Hinata and Tanaka are excited to see the Skytree for the first time! I would be, too. They arrive at the inn they’re staying at and begin practicing a few moments later. Gotta get that practice in before the big day, ya know? Coach Ukai surveys the scene and notices that a few of them are quite antsy. It’s fine, probably. They just have to work off those nerves. To help with that, Coach Ukai decides to show the boys a DVD of Karasuno’s best plays. This should get them hyped up and it does! He wants them to engrave their best selves into their brains while watching all their cool plays. Daichi heads to a meeting with Coach Ukai and Takeda-sensei. He asks Enoshita to watch the troublemakers. Speaking of troublemakers, Kageyama and Hinata are going out for a late-night job. Dangit, now he’s got to go with them to keep an eye on them..or does he!? He looks at Tsukki who immediately turns him down. He remarks that he wouldn’t be able to keep up with those two anyway. In a hilarious turn of events, Enoshita borrows a bike and lends it to him so that he can keep up with them, haha. Tsukki isn’t too pleased about being stuck as their babysitter.

Elsewhere, Shimizu and Yachi are having a nice bath. Yachi gets nervous when it’s just the two of them. She randomly asks about her black tights. She soon feels embarrassed about asking something weird like that. But Shimizu answers her and reveals that she has a lot of scars on her legs. She used to be a hurdler on the track team and she would trip a lot. Yachi thinks that’s so cool and calls them badges of honor! Shimizu laughs and remarks that she didn’t have many friends back then nor any juniors she was particularly close with. She’s really happy that she became the manager of the volleyball team. Yachi is the first person that she has ever been able to talk like this with. D’awww. What a cute moment.

It’s finally the day of the Nationals! Everyone heads to the arena. Someone bumps into Nishinoya and he falls towards a beautiful girl. He wonders if this is the lucky pervert incident he’s always dreamed of!? Unfortunately for him, it’s not. The girl manages to stop him from falling forward. Maybe next time? In an interesting twist, Tanaka actually knows this beautiful girl. Her name is Kanoka and she’s a wing spiker from Niiyama Girls’ High School. He’s talking to her casually but freezes up all of sudden. The third-years remark that Tanak finally realized he was talking to a girl, haha. She wishes him luck before going back to her team. Kageyama runs into Komori. But where’s Sakusa? He’s sulking in a corner. Remember, he doesn’t like crowds. Hey, hey, hey! Bokuto greets Hinata and declares that his team won’t be easy to take down. Daichi is confronted by Kuroo and the rest of the Nekoma players. But that’s enough lollygagging! Time to get this show started. The episode ends with the opening ceremony for the Spring Tournament. HYPE INTENSIFIES!

In Summary:
It’s finally time for the Nationals! I’ve been looking forward to this all season. Time for Karasuno to put what they learned to good use. That being said, the purpose of this episode was to hype us up for the Nationals and it certainly succeeded. My hype levels are off the charts right now! I’m salivating at the thought of all the awesome match-ups we could possibly see. But none get me more excited than the prospect of seeing Karasuno versus Nekoma one more time. There’s no way that’s not going to happen, right?
