The Weekly Movies Discussion Post For March 1st, 2020

2 min read
I continue to be frustrated by how few movies I'm getting to see these days. I'm close to calling it a slump at this point.

Some of the recent works we’ve checked out include Birds of Prey, the theatrical release of The Rhythm Section, and some catch-up recently on A Quiet Place and Cold Pursuit. This past month also had Darius stepping in to provide a review for The Photograph.

There wasn’t anything out theatrically that I wanted to catch going into this weekend though the first full weekend of March has like three films for me. What I did do this past week was catch Call of the Wild. It’s not typically my thing but I wanted to get out a bit and do something a little different. I definitely worked for me a lot better than I thought it would.

Check out our full review.

This week also saw the theatrical release of the My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising anime feature film. We got that bad boy covered with Melina stepping in for a full review.

Beyond that, the playlist of older films in my catalog didn’t get a lot of time, opting instead for music while working. I did revisit Dawn of the Planet of the Apes as I really enjoyed that one and I took a new spin through Return of the Jedi because I was just interested in curling up with something that I enjoy a good bit. Beyond that, I found myself playing through the Captain America trilogy that again reinforces that it’s my favorite sub-series of the MCU overall with the first film ranking as my favorite overall.

I do need to update my MCU rankings
