The reveal in August that Marvel Studios will be bringing a Moon Knight series to the Disney+ service was one of the bigger pieces of news that got me excited. Marvel Studios revealed back in November that Jeremy Slater had boarded the project as the showrunner for it. While Slater had a hand in the 2015 Fantastic Four film script as a co-writer and was the writer on Death Note for Netflix, he most recently served as the developer for Umbrella Academy and wrote the script for the pilot episode, shaping the run going forward.
In the time since, most of what we’ve heard has been minor casting rumors and the debunking of Daniel Radcliffe as the title character, of which I’m of mixed feelings on. The latest news bit out is that according to information via GWW, it looks like filming is set to begin this coming November at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. That fits the timeline well for other things that are going on and it would indicate a likely Christmas 2021 debut.
The character has a complicated history but check out the concept of the 2016 series to get an idea of a possible avenue to explore to bring it to life.
Plot concept: For years, Marc Spector has defended New York City as the masked vigilante Moon Knight. Calling upon the powers of the ancient Egyptian God Khonshu, he has kept the city safe from street gangs and supernatural forces alike. Or has he? Waking up in an insane asylum will shake anyone’s confidence. But it can’t be true, can it? His mind is full of identities and he no longer knows which is real. His thoughts are clouded and he has no idea what to believe. If he calls to Khonshu, he believes he will receive an answer. But is this a sign he still clings to his sanity, or has it slipped from him completely?
I was seven when I bought my first Marvel comic, and my life was changed on the spot. It’s no exaggeration to say that joining the MCU is the single greatest honor of my career. I’m thrilled and terrified and deliriously happy.

And while I won’t be able tell you anything in regards to story or casting, I *can* tell that you we’ve assembled a room full of brilliant writers who truly love this character, and we’re all hard at work crafting something special for you.
