“Operation Houtou”

What They Say:
The Outdoor Activities Club, Aka, the Outclub has 3 members. In the countryside of Yamanashi Prefecture, there’s a high school named Motosu High School. Go even further to one of the school buildings and you’ll find a very laid-back outdoor club that uses one corner of the classroom as their club room. Kagamihara Nadeshiko finally wants to kill some time in their club room, but then Ohgaki Chiaki and Inuyama Aoi suddenly announce that they’re all going on a trip. The girls enjoy the various local treats as they travel around, but where in the world is the end destination for this trip?!

The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
After getting quite a few stamps as they’ve moved about town, things are now problematic as Nadeshiko has lost her stamp sheet. It’s not exactly the end of the world as it just means they’re not all on the same page with the books and all, but the gang decides to shift gears and get some food in order to take their mind off it after doing a little searching. It’s cute to watch them cook as they get into making some houtou and Aki is apparently a master at how this has to be done right, including in a proper houtou pot. The whole thing is a fun little montage moment bit where they put together everything and enjoy each other’s company while trying to put the challenge of the day behind them. It’s all about the bonds of this little group and it delivers nicely.

In Summary:
Room Camp is not a high-stakes series and what we get here is simple and fun when you get down to it. There are plenty of cute moments throughout and the whole foodie side is adorable in its own way. You do feel for Nadeshiko in losing her sheet because they all “worked” hard together to go through the stamp process and it does have some meaning. But there’s always a little twist in the wind that will come to deal with this eventually, I’m sure.
