The winter 2020 anime series Darwin’s Game is getting its home video releases in Japan handled by Aniplex Japan and they’ve set a familiar schedule. The eleven episode series is getting a six-volume release beginning on March 25th, 2020 where both formats are listed as limited editions. While we’re just over a month until that release, we now have a look at the main cover and a fuller spread of the character artwork from what I suspect is the reverse side of the cover as a two-panel spread. The DVDs are priced at 6,000 yen each and the Blu-rays at 7,000 yen each. Check the full schedule and known details below!
The series will premiere same-day on Funimation and Anime Lab with new episodes every Friday starting January 3rd, 2020. Crunchyroll and HIDIVE will begin streaming the series on February 2nd, 2020 with new episodes every Sunday.
Yoshinobu Tokumoto is directing based on the scripts by Shu Miyama. Kazuya Nakanishi is on board for the character designs with Nexus handling the animation production.
The previously announced Japanese cast includes Yūsuke Kobayashi as Kaname, Reina Ueda is Shuka, Nichika Omori as Rain, Taku Yashiro as Ryūji, Yumiri Hanamori as Sui/Sōta, Yūya Hirose as Hamada, Chiaki Kobayashi as Kyōda, Fukushi Ochiai as Shinozuka, Eiji Takemoto as Banda-kun, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Ō (King), and Ryūichi Kijima as Keiichi.
The manga comes from creator FLIPFLOPs which began in 2012 as serialized in Bessatsu Shonen Champion. It has sixteen volumes out as of the original announcement and over two million copies in print in total for the run.
The opening theme song is “CHAIN” by ASCA while Mashiro Ayano is on board with the song “Alive” as the ending theme song
This isn’t the first anime adaptation of their works as we previously saw The Everyday Tales of a Cat God adapted.

Plot Concept: Kaname Sudo, an ordinary high school student, receives an invitation to try a mysterious app called “Darwin’s Game.” Kaname, upon launching the app, is drawn into a game where players fight one another using superpowers called Sigils. Without knowing the reason for all this, can Kaname survive furious battles against the powerful players who attack him?
