The new boys-love brand Blue Lynx that Fuji TV announced back in April 2019 revealed at the time an anime feature film adaptation of Kou Yoneda’s manga Twittering Birds Never Fly, known originally as Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai. The film landed this weekend in Japan but on the day before it opened, it was revealed that a sequel has been given the green light with Twittering Birds Never Fly: The Storm Breaks. Additionally, an OAD is being prepared for the seventh volume of the manga with Twittering Birds Never Fly: Don’t Stay Gold. No dates or details have been set for them yet.

Kaori Makita directed the first film based on the screenplay by Hiroshi Seko with GRIZZLY handling the animation.

The Japanese cast includes Tarusuke Shingaki as Yashiro and Wataru Hatano as Doumeki. The newly added cast include:

  • Hiroki Yasumoto as Kanji Kageyama

Plot concept: The sexually masochistic yakuza boss, Yashiro, isn’t the type to warm up to others easily. But when Chikara Doumeki, his newly hired bodyguard, catches his interest, he reconsiders his “hands-off” policy with subordinates. As Yashiro’s invitations fail, the yakuza boss finds out his bodyguard has a very personal reason for staying at arm’s length.
