But what we do know is that Sony has added a new film to its slate for 2021 with an untitled slot taken for October 8th, 2021. Currently, there are no films set on that day in October and it’s a month before Thor: Love and Thunder arrives.
At the moment, Sony currently has Morbius and Venom 2 set to land in 2020 while Spider-Man with its 3rd untitled project is set for July 16th, 2021. We also know that 2022 will have the Spider-Verse sequel.
There’s been plenty of speculation as to what could be done with another in the pool of characters that Sony has control over that Marvel may not want to do much with. We’ve seen reports over the last year or so that both Kraven and Madame Web were bandied about and that Morbius was one of those dark horse characters in the running at a time as well.
What brings Spider-Woman to mind is that the character had a bit of a relaunch this year with a new costume and approach. And it’s disconnected enough to work while trying to tie into the larger money-making name of Spider-Man. the folks at CBR believe that Jessica Drew is what’s being developed and could tie into this newly revealed date. And we know going back to leaked memos back in 2015 that the character is one that can be used by both studios, though for Marvel Studios it would be without her spider-abilities.
