The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
In the last episode, Kazuma and his crew got caught stealing a bottle of the red stuff. As punishment, they were given detention. That seems fair. How bad could it be…OH MY GOD! THEY LOCKED THEM IN A ROOM WITH THAT NASTY, GIANT ROACH FROM OVERLORD!?!? WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT!?!? QUICK, KILL IT! KILL IT WITH FIRE!!! KILL IT!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Due to an unforeseen mental breakdown, we are experiencing technical difficulties. The Fandom Post would like to express its sincerest apologies for any inconvenience. We are doing our best to bring our reviewer back to his senses.
Okay, I’m back. Sorry about that. I’m just not a fan of roaches, they’re disgusting. I know stealing is wrong but this punishment just isn’t fair. It’s messed up! Numerous roaches are entering and leaving all the holes in their bodies. I don’t even have the words. They’re going to be scarred for life and so am I. Darkness and Megumin are walking down the hall when they come across Kazuma and Aqua. Their eyes are totally dead. I don’t even want to imagine the unspeakable horrors they’ve been through. Megumin points out that there’s twitching roach legs sticking out of their hair and mouths. Well, there goes my dinner. Koening, Grantz, and Neumann also walk by and they look like zombies. I feel really bad for these guys.
Darkness and Megumin return to class. They want to save them somehow! Emilia suggests talking to Mr. Rerugen. She goes to his office with Subaru and Puck. She asks for their punishment to be reduced. Mr. Rerugen is moved by how caring she is! Totally the opposite of Tanya, haha. He informs them that if they can perform a good deed, he’ll talk to the principal about letting them off the hook. Emilia flashes that angelic smile of hers and thanks him. Mr. Rerugen is moved to tears! What a good girl. Emilia informs the others and Megumin gets a bright idea. She also starts laughing maniacally. Uh oh, I don’t know about this. Their next class is Science and everyone is lighting their burners. Randomly, Chomusuke breathes fire and lights one of them. Subaru can’t believe his eyes and tells Megumin about it. She shrugs him off and states that Chomusuke’s a cat. Cats don’t breathe fire! Poor Subaru. Anyway, it’s time to start the plan!
What’s the plan? Well, since this is Megumin we’re talking about, what do you think? Yup, an explosion. As Megumin starts her chant, Tanya attempts to stop her. However, everyone stops Tanya. They all want to help Kazuma and crew escape their torment. Heck, even Mr. Roswaal is pretending not to notice! Tanya has no choice but to let whatever is going to happen, happen. EXPLOSION! She explodes the table and the floor underneath it. The pipes are damaged and it causes the school to start flooding. Kazuma and crew are walking through the hallway with horrified expressions on their faces. They run into the principal and notice the flooding. He tells the group that if they can stop the flooding, their detention will be over. Score! It’s a good thing they have a goddess of water on their side. Everyone works together and saves the school from flooding.
Their nightmare is over! All’s well that ends – OH MY GOD! WHY ARE THEY SHOWING THE ROACH? NOOOOOOOOO! I didn’t ask for this. Apparently, this was Roswaal’s plan all along to get the students to become closer. I mean, they did but there must have been a better way! You’re a jerk, Roswaal. Kyouhukou, the roach, invites him for some afternoon tea but he declines. I don’t blame him. THIS IS YOUR CHANCE THOUGH! KILL IT! KILL IT WITH FIRE!
In Summary:
It was nice to see everyone working together to help Kazuma and his gang. Megumin was the MVP of this episode. Roswaal’s plan to bring everyone closer together seems to have worked. That doesn’t make him any less of a jerk for putting them through that horrific experience. That being said, I really dislike roaches. I’m definitely going to have nightmares tonight.
