Studio Ghibli Film Library Gets International Netflix Distribution

Late last year netted us the news of the Studio Ghibli films getting ready to make their digital debut as they were released through download-to-own services and it’ll be part of the HBO Max service in spring 2020. That set up things nicely for US and Canadian fans, but what about the rest of the world?

Netflix has stepped in with Studio Ghibli and Wild Bunch to bring the bulk of the films tot he service worldwide outside of the US, Canada, and Japan with a staggered release over the next few months. With multiple subtitle options and a slew of audio options from dubs created over the years, the schedule is currently set with:

February 1:

  1. Castle in the Sky
  2. My Neighbor Totoro
  3. Kiki’s Delivery Service
  4. Only Yesterday
  5. Porco Rosso
  6. Ocean Waves
  7. Tales from Earthsea

March 1:

  1. Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
  2. Princess Mononoke
  3. My Neighbors the Yamadas
  4. Spirited Away
  5. The Cat Returns
  6. Arrietty
  7. The Tale of the Princess Kaguya

April 1:

  1. Pom Poko
  2. Whisper of the Heart
  3. Howl’s Moving Castle
  4. Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea
  5. From Up On Poppy Hill
  6. The Wind Rises
  7. When Marnie Was There
