The anime adaptation of the Orenchi no Furo Jijou landed back in 2015 and definitely was a lot of fun to watch in all its quirkiness. The original manga from Itokichi has been ongoing, however, with Seven Seas Entertainment having previously picked up the rights to it. With seven volumes out in both Japan and in English, we learned at the end of last year that Amazon Japan was now listing that the eighth volume out on February 27th, 2020 will be the final one.
We had that date but no idea when the final chapter would be published as it’s serialized in Comic Gene magazine. That’s now been updated as the magazine has confirmed that the February 15th, 2020 chapter will be the final one and it’s closing out its run with a full-color opening page as well. A quick turnaround from the final chapter to final volume isn’t all that unusual either.
The work comes from manga creator Itokichi which began back in 2011 and has three volumes published so far. The series stars Nobunaga Shimazaki as Tatsumi while Tatsuhisa Suzuki will take on the role of Takasu. Additional casting includes Yuichiro Umehara as Wakasa, Ibuki Kido as Kasumi, Natsuki Hanae as Mikuni, Kenjiro Tsuda as Maki, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Takasu and Yoshihisa Kawahawa as Ahiru-chan.
Plot concept: Get ready for a heartfelt comedy about a teenage boy named Tatsumi who is frequently housing some strange guests; including Wakasa, a good looking mermaid who has taken over his bathtub! This cute but selfish freeloader is a perfect match for the cool but tender and caring Tatsumi. Let’s see how they get by together!
