Frontier Works are plumbing the depths of 90s anime now and they’ve unearthed the early series Kingyo Chuuihou!, better known as Goldfish Warning! The series is being slotted for an SDBD (standard definition Blu-ray disc) release that’s scheduled for April 24th, 2020. The 54-episode set will be spread across two discs and include the movie priced at 27,000 yen. The show was last released as a DVD set in 2014 for a bit more than that but was spread cross nine discs and won’t have the same space and encoded advantages that this new set will have.
The series was directed by Junichi Sato based on the series composition by Keiko Maruo. With an original story by Neko Nekobe, Satoru Iriyoshi worked on the character designs with Toei Animation handling the production.
The Japanese cast includes Mika Kanai as Wapiko, Minori Matsushima as Gyopi, and Yumi Takada as Chitose Fujinomiya.
Plot Concept: Chitose Fujinomiya, former heiress, currently an orphen, has been kicked out of her super elite school and shunned by her former friends. She is sent to a rural public school, where even pigs, oxen and chickens are students. The only possession she has left is a pink goldfish named Gyopi, given to her by her beloved father, and very valuable. Her family’s attorney attempts to steal Gyopi, but is foiled by Chitose’s new schoolmates, namely Wapiko, a simple girl who can outrun almost anything and is well liked in school. As it turns out, Chitose isn’t poor, the attorney was just hiding her inheritance for himself. Instead of going back to the super rich school, she buys the rural school and attempts to transform it into a refined school to compete with her rival/former best friend with hilarious results, as the students of the rural school don’t want to be refined.
