GKIDS Reveals ‘Weathering With You’ Anime Dub Cast With New Trailer

The Japanese debut of Weathering With You from Makoto Shinkai debuted this past summer with the July 19th, 2019 debut and we’re getting closer to the North American debut. GKIDS is bringing out the film with a wide release on January 17th, 2019 but Fathom Events has set a special fan preview event. They’re set for a January 15th and 16th, 2020 arrival with exclusive bonus content for fans in the US. With that just about here, they’ve now brought out a new dubbed trailer with some reveals for that presentation.

Michael Sinterniklaas and Stephanie Sheh, who worked on Your Name among others together, directed this film. The cast, in order of appearance, includes:
  • Brandon Engman – Hodaka
  • Ashley Boettcher – Hina
  • Lee Pace – Suga
  • Alison Brie – Natsumi
  • Emeka Guindo – Nagi
  • Riz Ahmed – Takai
  • Vinnie Penna – Kimura
  • Mike Pollock – Yasui
  • Barbara Goodson – Tachibana

Shinkai is writing and directing the film based at CoMix Wave Films with Atsushi Tamura serving as the animation director and Masayoshi Tanaka handling the character designs.

The cast includes Kotaro Daiko as Hodaka Morishima and Nana Mori as Hina Amano.

Plot Concept: The summer of his high school freshman year, Hokoda runs away from his remote island home to Tokyo, and quickly finds himself pushed to his financial and personal limits. The weather is unusually gloomy and rainy every day, as if to suggest his future. He lives his days in isolation, but finally finds work as a writer for a mysterious occult magazine. Then one day, Hokoda meets Hina on a busy street corner. This bright and strong­willed girl possesses a strange and wonderful ability: the power to stop the rain and clear the sky…
