Originally serialized in Comic Kairakuten from the January 2020 installment, One Room Love is a twenty-page story from creator Wantan Meo, who has just over half a dozen others works on the service. This marked my first experience with this particular creator and I’m definitely going to be following them for more work. The artwork is the big draw here as there’s a lot of great stuff about it, from designs to backgrounds and just the flow of the story that ramps things up well. But there’s also a good tenderness that comes in before things get really rough as the intensity shifts into high gear. With a good story that needed just a little more lead-in to it, it’s definitely something that will have me wanting more from them.

The story for this one introduces us to the couple of Keigo and Narumi. Narumi’s coming in by train to visit him in the city and it looks like it’s been about four months since they last got to really be together. She’s getting to his one-room place before him because of his work and that’s allowed her to start in on the cooking, a pretty good homemade meal that will warm his belly to be sure. She’s attractive from the first visual and that apron (while being fully clothed) on her just makes her even more so. Wantan Meo has got that sparkle in her just right from the big splash page and it’s easy to see why Keigo can’t keep his hands off her. She’s doing her best to prepare the meal, even handling a knife, but he’s pressed right up behind her, so glad to have her back and unable to keep his hands off her.

With it being the one-room place, it doesn’t take much for him to really coax her over to the bedding so they can at least snuggle a bit. But the dude is fast in getting undressed and their passion just sparks throughout. Her holding back while home alone for a while has made her just as ravenous as she starts to let the inhibitions down, though the thin walls still have to be minded. The bulk of the issue is all about the sex that they have and it’s a wildly fun if mildly tame ride in terms of what they do. The x-ray elements are minimal thankfully and a lot of it just focused on the whole “this would make you spread your toes and tingle” kind of stuff. It’s just pure fun to watch play out even if Keigo is less of a fully formed character here as its focus is mostly on Narumi. Especially once she asks to skip the condoms since she intends to move in next spring and really start living with him.

In Summary
It’s such a basic story yet one that’s absolutely perfect in bringing to life young love that’s coping with a long-distance relationship. The anticipation is there in the early pages, the desire to hold off until they spend some time together, and then the inability to do so because the need is so great. Wantan Meo’s artwork is just beautiful throughout as he captures the feminine form here while also ensuring that we get plenty of background material to enjoy as well, giving it a very lived-in feeling for a one-room place. Everything about this was great and they’re definitely on my follow-list now as I want to see more and more of their work if it’s anything like this.
