Originally serialized in Comic Kairakuten from the January 2020 installment, Lucky Find is a twenty-two-page story from creator Ouchikaeru, who has just over half a dozen others works on the service. This marked my third experience with this particular creator and it reinforced how much I like their stuff. While there’s some hazy stuff going on in the beginning here in terms of consent, an area where even labeling would be tricky depending on one’s point of view of it, the bulk of the installment is pretty good with how our two leads get together and how well they click. And, as always, the artwork is just fantastic with some really nice details and a fleshed out setting that makes it easier to engage with.

The premise for this one is familiar enough as we get Ochiai heading home at the end of his day and he sees his friend Kento’s girlfriend passed out drunk on the park bench near his place. There are a few questionable fellows nearby so he tries to get his friend to come down and get her. Unfortunately, he’s got a hot secret date with a well-endowed woman that he’s not going to miss so he entrusts her to his care. And being the guy he is, he helps her back to his place where for the trip and first few minutes she’s kind of mellow-mellow about the whole thing. What he really learns after talking with her at the apartment a bit is that she’s concerned about Kento cheating on her and that she’s not enough for Kento, or any man in general, because of her body image issues. Mostly in that she’s fairly small-breasted.

With a few questions and a bit of time, she really wants to know if he finds her attractive and then sets out to show him that she can be a hot little number. Ochiai isn’t throwing himself at her in the slightest, though he was leading things on a touch in saying that he did find her attractive at one point, but she goes all out in seducing him at this point. When she’s in control she goes fairly hardcore in a way for a vanilla story, but what was interesting was that as he reversed the situation and turned it into focusing on her, she had no idea what to make of it because her boyfriend, Kento, was simply using her the whole time. She gets treated very diferently here and it sends her over the edge quickly, making for a really enjoyable kind of turnabout on things. You can see why she’d fall for him quickly even if that’s the worst thing for her to basically leap from one relationship to the next.

In Summary
While there’s some questionable stuff in play here the fantasy elements allow for it to be handled fairly well and with just enough of a nudge that you can push it to the side. Ouchikaeru’s artwork is the big draw with the book and I really like how they present Kaoru as she moves from nearly passed out to groggy and to discovering what real intimacy just might be like in a sexual context. It’s not one that goes crazy with positions or intent and is kind of tame in a lot of ways but that adds a nice layer to it since he’s clearly been interested in her for some time and she’s obviously known and had a curiosity herself. The end result is cute and could easily set up its own storyline.
