Fans have been curious as to how and if Deadpool will really fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the merger of the two companies and we’ll definitely have some time ahead to wait on it. So far, we know the main creative behind it have taken meetings at Marvel Studios and co-writer Paul Wernick indicated that an R-rated film was fine for this franchise, though one suspects that it’ll limit what characters cross into his films and that he’ll be more PG-13 when crossing into other films if he does.

On Live With Kelly & Ryan this morning, Reynolds was on and essentially confirmed that a third film is moving forward. “Yeah we’re working on it right now with the whole team,” Reynolds said.

“We’re over at Marvel [Studios] now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It’s kinda crazy. So yeah, we’re working on it.”

The first film was a shockingly huge hit for the studio when it arrived in February 2016 as it raked in $783 million worldwide and broke some records for an R-Rated film. The 2018 sequel currently stands at $785 million worldwide. With just under $1.6 billion for the two films and a slew of merchandise, it’s a no-brainer that there would be more.

Directed by David Leitch, the sequel stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Zazie Beetz as Domino, and Josh Brolin as Cable.

Original concept: After surviving a near-fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
