At the start of this week, namely the date in the title above, we’re now in a two-week period where there’s very little coming on through most avenues. My TiVo to-do list is quite empty outside of recording a couple of HGTV shows through January 3rd. So that means it’s a chance to catch up on some other stuff.
We’ve got a look at the recent finale of See as well as checking out the latest for The Mandalorian and the latest on Harley Quinn.
I’m hesitant to go into it too much but I’m now at the halfway mark for the fourth season of The Expanse and I am thoroughly loving it. It’s definitely different from what came before, which were more space-based adventures whereas this one sticks to one of the Ring worlds, but it’s delivering a lot of excitement just the change to this wider galaxy is fascinating. Plus, it’s giving Bobbie Draper one hell of a storyline and making her a freakin’ beautiful badass.
The other show I made my way through was The Boys. I had gotten behind on this due to the volume of episodes to watch to get ready for Crisis, but I binged most of the show this past week. While there are a few areas where I avoided looking at the screen due to the violence, it’s a pretty good “real world” interpretation with politics and social issues while also realizing that most of those that would become Supes would be askew in the head in some way. It’s working a solid cast and I always enjoy Karl Urban in anything but I’m delighted with Antony Starr here as Homelander. He was one of my favorites a few years ago with Banshee and this is such a radical change that it took me awhile to even really recognize him in it because of how different the roles/characters are.
This week had nothing on the Netflix or Hulu front for me. I know I watched some stuff but I think it was mostly just watching recorded sitcoms for light entertainment amid other holiday shenanigans.
