Marvel Sets ‘Star Wars: Bounty Hunters’ Ongoing Series

Hopefully, there will be disintegrations.

With the darker edge of The Mandalorian now out there and some good response to the Target: Vader miniseries, the bounty hunter side of Star Wars is getting some additional attention. A new ongoing in March 2020 with that as the subtitle is set to begin next year with writer Ethan Sacks and artist Paolo Villanelli, who just finished the Jedi Temple miniseries based on the Fallen Order game.

The book will focus on Beilert Valance as the lead, who worked the mission in Target: Vader, but was originally created by Archie Goodwin and Wal Simonson way back in Star Wars #16 in the late 70s. The character was brought out of the Legends placement to modern continuity in the recent Han Solo: Imperial Cadet miniseries.

“While the battle between the Rebellion and the Empire raged in the stars, the darker corners of the Star Wars universe belonged to the bounty hunters,” series writer Ethan Sacks said. “And that’s always been a facet of the saga that’s fascinated me ever since I first witnessed that glorious murderers’ row take a bounty from Darth Vader aboard the Executor in a theater as a seven-year-old in 1980.”

Plot Concept: The series follows bounty hunter Beilert Valance as he hunts down his “mentor-turned-betrayer” Nakano Lash. Along the way, he finds out that Boba Fett, Bossk, and other bounty hunters are also on the chase.
