The box office moved along decently this week with a couple of new films moving in and the powerhouse that is Frozen 2 continuing to add coin to its account. The film took the top spot for the third week in a row with a $34.6 million take to bring it to $337.5 million domestic and an overseas of $582 million. That brings us to $920 million worldwide and once it crosses the $1 billion mark this year it’ll be the sixth of Disney’s films to do so. The film is doing strong numbers as it took the original film 61 days before it hit this point and it took 57 weeks to cross the $400 million mark. Frozen 2 is going to do that easily.
Knives Out held onto secnd place with a 47% drop to bring in $14 million for the weekend and $63.4 since its debut. It’s also at about $60 million overseas as well as it’s doing well at the $125 million mark with a few more markets to open still.
On the new front, Dark Waters lnaded at 6th place with $4.1 million while Playmobil…. didn’t make the top twelve – even while running a deal where every ticket was $5. It pulled in $660,000 for the weekend.
