Toei Entertainment is digging into their back catalog a bit with the 1984 anime Video Senshi Lezarion getting a new lease on life. The series is not making the leap to Blu-ray but is getting a new DVD release. The 45-episode series is getting split between two sets that are priced at 22,000 yen each and arrive on the same day on March 11th, 2020. After getting a look at the packaging and cover for the first volume, the second volume has now been showcased. There aren’t any extras listed at the moment other than booklets for each set.
The series was directed by Kozo Morishita based on the original work by Saburo Yasude. Hideyuki Motohashi worked on the character designs with Toei Animation handling the production.
The Japanese cast includes Toru Furuya as Takashi Katori, Eiji Kanie as Godheid, Eiko Yamada as Sahara, Katsuji Mori as Inspire, Keiichi Noda as General Sylvester, Keiko Han as Olivia Lawrence, Masaya Taki as Bluheim, and Noriaki Wakamoto as Charles Danner.
Plot Concept: Takashi Katori is a big fan of online games, and so is his American friend Sarah. However, one of their RPGs goes too far, as their virtual world and the Lezarion robot that Takashi created for the game somehow mix with reality. Takashi is caught, but later the Earth Government discovers that an evil scientist from the Moon (now a sort of abandoned colony with restricted access) is hacking into virtual worlds and security, so they force Takashi to pilot the Lezarion and, with Sarah’s help, fight evil and protect the Earth.
