With a lot of legal issues playing out in 2019 within the voice acting field, we knew one change was coming from the Dragon Ball property in that a new actor would eventually be cast for the character of Broly. Even if Broly doesn’t appear in the anime itself again after the feature film we had this time last year, the character would still make appearances in games and other mediums. Unsurprisingly, the corporate sides aren’t talking about this at the moment and likely won’t want to say much at all, but voice actor Johnny Yong Bosch has been, according to ANN, responding to people on Twitter for the last few days about taking on the role. The character was previously played by Vic Mignogna.

Check out our review of the film from its theatrical run and our review of its Blu-ray release.

The film was directed by Tatsuya Nagamine based on the screenplay by Akira Toriyama, who also worked on the character designs. Funimation brought the film out in North America on January 16th, 2019.

The cast from the TV series includes Masako Nozawa as Son Goku, Son Gohan and Son Goten, Ryo Horikawa as Vegeta, Aya Hisakawa as Bulma, Takeshi Kusao as Trunks, Mayumi Tanaka as Krillin, Masaharu Satou as Kame-Sen’nin, Toshio Furukawa as Piccolo, Naoko Watanabe as Chi-Chi, Yuko Minaguchi as Videl, Unshou Ishizuka as Mr. Satan, Kôzô Shioya as Majin Buu, Kouichi Yamadera as God of Destruction Beerus and Masakazu Morita as Whis.

Property Concept: Knowing that there are increasingly powerful forces in the universe that he has yet to encounter, Goku spends all of his time training to achieve even greater strength. But, one fateful day a mysterious new Saiyan appears before Goku and Vegeta: Broly. How can a Saiyan—a member of the proud warrior race that was completely annihilated after the destruction of Planet Vegeta—appear here on Earth? With Frieza’s return from hell, a fierce battle awaits the three mighty Saiyans who have followed completely different destinies.
