Null & Peta has been that quirky weird series this fall that has left me wondering just what the quirk or gimmick of it all will be. With this one following up the last episode so directly, we get the critters that have amassed and chased our leading pair down, which allows for them to be trapped and blownup – along with way too much of the city. Of course, even though they’re blown to shreds it just lets them reconstitute into bigger creatures together that are now just sliming and destroying the city directly. By the halfway mark of the episode, we get half the world covered in these things. That leaves the sisters to trying to figure out a plan to put an end to them, which works nicely enough just to see them on the same page and being like actual siblings for a bit facing against an impossible opponent.
With some good action in the first half, the back half is more about bringing the siblings together well enough and moving forward with a plan to deal with the creatures that are destroying the world. It’s good in both halves with what it is it wants to do and is once against very well animated with some great design work. The action has some great weird moments and this episode, clocking in at just over six minutes, takes advantage of the extra time to tell actual story and not just bullshit around for a while.
