Next ‘Planet of the Apes’ Feature Film Taking Shape

1 min read

With a strong trilogy having wrapped up a couple of years ago that saw the director for the last two, Matt Reeves, having headed off to Warner Bros. to work on Batman, it’s been quiet on the Fox front when it comes to Planet of the Apes. Part of that was the merger with Disney as no big projects were really getting underway amid that because of the uncertainty of what would be shuttered mid-stream.

Now, Deadline has confirmed that this franchise is moving forward again though it’s very early in the stream for it. There are no details as to whether it’ll follow-up or expand on the previous trilogy or do something new/reboot it. but it appears that Wes Ball of the Maze Runner films has signed on to develop something for it. And it’s worth noting that any new project is also going to be looked at – especially of this scale – for ancillary streaming projects.

The recent trilogy brought in $1.68 billion worldwidewide.
