Aniplex Japan has now scheduled a Blu-ray box set for the Blood+ TV series that hopefully can find its way this way next year. The distributor has set a February 26th, 2020 debut for the set that’s priced at 38,000 yen. It’ll have the entire fifty-episode run as a seven-disc set. It does look like according to the official solicitation that it will be an upconversion. There’ll be a booklet for it that includes new commentary by the people involved reflecting on this new release.

Originally airing in 2005, the series was directed by Junichi Fujisaku, who also handled the series composition while others worked on the individual scripts. Akiharu Ishii worked on the adaptation of the character designs and served as the chief animation director with it produced at Production I.G.

Plot Concept: Throughout the passage of time and the shifts in backgrounds, a particular war continues to leave its mark on history, extending its influence into the modern world. There are two major groups involved in the ensuring war. The first group consists of monsters known as Chiropterans who can change their appearances into that of human beings. They are actually immortals who feed on the blood of the living. The second group is an organisation known as the “Red Shield”, formed to track down these monsters and exterminate them. Otonashi Saya is a high-school girl who lives a peaceful life with her family. The only problem is, she has no recollections of her life beyond that of the past year. However, her happy life will be destroyed by an event that will lead her to her destined fate.
