The Review
Content (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
We kick things off at U.A., where the work-study students are left on stand-by until the Nighteye investigation is complete. Although they can’t mention the operation to their fellow students, the worries hanging over Midoriya, Ochako and Tsuyu are clear as day. Midoriya especially wears his heart on his sleeve, as his troubled demeanor catches the eye of several of his classmates. Midoriya has always been keen to notice when his friends were struggling. But now the shoe is on the other foot.
During lunch, Iida reaches out to Midoriya, lending an ear to his friend who’s obviously concerned over something. Back when Iida was hell-bent on avenging his brother Ingenium during the Stain arc, Midoriya did the same for him. It’s frustrating that Midoriya can’t share the details with his classmates, but he’s well aware that his disposition has trickled into the hearts of his friends. Iida and Todoroki offer the rest of their lunch to Midoriya – it’s a small but effective gesture.
The kinship held between the U.A. students has come so far from where it began, as the once cold-hearted Todoroki and straight-laced Iida have learned to empathize thanks to the trials they’ve overcome together. It’s so wonderful seeing the bonds created between class 1-A, each student so willing to lend their support to one another. We even see Bakugou show his concern for Deku, even if it’s in his own brazen way. As night falls, the work-study group receive the message they’ve been waiting for – it’s time for Nighteye’s operation to commence.
The heroes meet up one last time before heading out. Thanks to the thorough detective work of the involved heroes, they’ve identified Eri’s location. Nighteye tailed Eri’s caretaker to a department store, where he sneakily used his Foresight Quirk to gather the final piece of intel they needed. The heroes, as well as the city police force, arrive at the Shie Hassaikai headquarters early the next morning. As they’re about to move in, one of the Hassai group’s strongest members comes barreling out the front door. The heroes found them sooner than they had anticipated, but the Hassai Group is ready to fight nevertheless. Dragon hero Ryukyu constrains the muscle-bound quirk user, giving enough time for the other groups to storm the gate. Their minds no longer clouded by doubt, Deku and LeMillion charge head-first into the unknown.
Overhaul makes one final visit to the Shie Hassaikai clan’s bedridden boss, before heading over to Eri. We’re given a short glimpse at the Hassai Group’s Eight Bullets, the mysterious quirk users who stand in the way of our heroes’ assault.
In Summary:
After weeks’ worth of planning, the hype train for this My Hero Academia arc has come to a head – the showdown with Overhaul and the Shie Hassaikai is about to be underway.
