If you’re looking to check out a show that has been lost to the years since it hit home video awhile back, definitely check out the Tower of Druaga series that Funimation has in their library. As we take a dip back in time to look at older shows that haven’t surfaced in awhile, this was one that I enjoyed a lot for its fantasy elements and some of how it worked its storyline.

Check out our review of the series.

Originally airing in 2008, the series was directed by Koichi Chigira based on the series composition by Shoji Gatoh. Akiko Asaki handled the character designs for it and GONZO worked on the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Fumiko Orikasa as Kaya, Kenn as Jil, Akira Ishida as Kally, Hozumi Gōda as Melt, Masahiko Tanaka as Pazuz, Masaki Terasoma as Kelb, Minori Chihara as Coopa, Risa Hayamizu as Ahmey, Takahiro Sakurai as Neeba, and Yui Horie as Fatina.

The English dub was directed by Leah Clark and the cast includes Brina Palencia as Ahmey, Chuck Huber as Melt, Monica Rial as Coopa, Todd Haberkorn as Jil, Trina Nishimura as Kaaya, Barry Yandell as Pazuzu, Charles Campbell as Gilgamesh, J. Michael Tatum as Kelb, Jamie Marchi as Fatina, Justin Pate as Kally, Kent Williams as Utu, and Travis Willingham as Neeba.

Plot Concept: Defeat the demon, save the kingdom, and don’t forget those extra lives! In the summer once every five years, demons within the mysterious Tower of Druaga lose their powers due to a magic spell cast by a god named ‘Anu’. During this time, King Gilgamesh, ruler of the kingdom Uruk, and his army have invaded the tower and built a fortress city on the very first floor of Druaga. Thus begins the story of a warrior named Jil who embarks on a quest for the legendary Blue Crystal Rod, a powerful artifact said to be held on the highest floor of Druaga. However, others want the treasure for themselves!
