The cancelation of Swamp Thing still has me pissed.
What will ease that somewhat is the opportunity to own it coming up soon. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has confirmed the complete series release is set for a February 11th, 2020 street date – though you can get it digitally on December 2nd, 2019. Formal pricing and extras haven’t been revealed yet.
“As one of the most original series from the DC Universe to date, we are thrilled to bring Swamp Thing: The Complete Series to Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital,” said Rosemary Markson, WBHE Senior Vice President, Television Marketing. “Viewers will watch in suspense through riveting plot twists and turns throughout the entire series.”
The project has Mark Verheiden writing it with Gary Dauberman and both will serve as executive producers as well.
The cast includes Crystal Reed as Abigal Arcane, Andy Bean as Alec Holland, Derek Mears as Swamp thing, Maria Sten as Liz Tremayne, Jeryl Prescott as Madame Xanadu, Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen as Maria Sunderland, Will Patton as Avery Sunderland, Henderson Wade as Matt Cable, Kevin Durand as Jason Woodrue, Leonardo Nam as Harland Edwards, Ian Ziergin as Blue Devil, and Adrienne Barbeau.
The production for this comes from the Atomic Monster folks, which is James Wan’s company, in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Plot Concept: Swamp Thing centers on CDC researcher Abby Arcane. When she returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all!
