2 min read

If you wait long enough, everything comes around again. The folks at Funimation lost the rights to the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood series a few years back and Aniplex USA picked them up because of how it was an Aniplex show that went back up the chain. Now, with Aniplex USA and Funimation cousin companies under Sony, the complete 64-episode series is now streaming on Funimation again as of 4:00 pm ET time today.

This is only in regards to this series streaming, nothing was said about any of the other spinoff projects, films, home video releases, or the original series.

And no, it will not be redubbed.

Originally airing in 2009 and 2010, the series was directed by Yasuhiro Irie based on the series composition by Hiroshi Ohnogi. Based on the original work by Hiromi Arakawa, Hiroki Kanno handled the character designs and animation production was overseen by Bones.

The Japanese cast includes Rie Kugimiya as Alphonse Elric, Romi Park as Edward Elric, Iemasa Kayumi as Father, Megumi Takamoto as Winry Rockbell, Minami Takayama as Envy, Shinichiro Miki as Roy Mustang and Unshou Ishizuka as Van Hohenheim.

The English cast includes Maxey Whitehead as Alphonse Elric, Vic Mignogna as Edward Elric, Andrew Love as Jerso, Barry Yandell as Yoki, Bradley Campbell as Heinkel, Caitlin Glass as Winry Rockbell, Chris Cason as Gluttony, Chris Rager as Zampano, Christine Auten as Izumi Curtis, Christopher R. Sabat as Alex Louis Armstrong and Colleen Clinkenbeard as Riza Hawkeye.

Plot concept: In this world there exist alchemists, people who study and perform the art of alchemical transmutation—to manipulate objects and transform one object into another. They are bounded by the basic law of alchemy: in order to gain something you have to sacrifice something of the same value. The main character is the famous alchemist Edward Elric—also known as the Fullmetal Alchemist—who almost lost his little brother, Alphonse, in an alchemical accident. Edward managed to attach his brother’s soul to a large suit of armor. While he did manage to save his brother’s life, he paid the terrible price of his limbs. To get back what they’ve lost, the brothers embark on a journey to find the Philosopher’s Stone that is said to amplify the powers of an alchemist enormously; however, on the way, they start uncovering a conspiracy that could endanger the entire nation, and they realize the misfortunes brought upon by the Philosopher’s Stone.
