Funimation has brought out the Burst Angel series a number of times since they first rolled it last decade and as we’ve caught up on the morning routine of opening and closing sequences – for now – I thought it’d be fun to go back to the beginning of their video collection and see how they promoted shows back in 2008. Skipping the trailers for series and going for clips, this was the first one for this series – in all its poor low-grade quality that YouTube offered at the time.

Originally airing in 2004, the series was directed by Koichi Ohata based on the series composition by Fumihiko Shimo. Kanetoshi Kamimoto and Osamu Horiuchi worked on the character designs with GONZO handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Akeno Watanabe as Jo, Megumi Toyoguchi as Meg, Mikako Takahashi as Amy, Rie Tanaka as Sei, Yūji Ueda as Kyohei Tachibana, Katsuhisa Houki as Ishihara, Kyoko Hikami as Maria, Risa Hayamizu as Takane, Susumu Chiba as Hayao Ichimonji, Tadahisa Saizen as Narrator, Takayuki Sugo as Leo Jinno, and Yukitoshi Hori as Ricky Glenford.

Plot Concept: The future’s looking bleak. It’s a good thing there’s a new sheriff in town. Her name is Jo and she’s an enigma even to herself. Alongside her partners Sei, Amy, and Meg, Jo fights for the citizens who can’t defend themselves. Confronting corruption and twisted science, these gals are on fire—and they’re the best chance the wounded city’s got.
