“Big Sister, What’s Your Favorite Snow Cone Flavor?”

What They Say:
Girl genius “Null” has just lost her beloved big sister “Peta” in an accident. But don’t you worry! She’ll just use her naturally gifted intelligence to bring her big sister back as a robot! But is her newly-revived big sister just a little different than before? It’s time for the wacky comedy hijinks of little sister “Null” and big sister robot “Peta”! “Big Sis! Your plug fell out of the wall!”

The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
After some silly time in space between the sisters, Null & Peta brings us back to Earth for a new round of shenanigans. It’s summer vacation but that’s something that Null can’t really say since she’s still skipping school because of how boring it all is for her. Bringing her to the beach makes for a little melancholic time but it turns wacky with the arrival of a large group that sends her looking for some peace and quiet. That brings her into a shopgirls orbit where Null accidentally orders a nearly 8,000 yen snowcone because of how thrown off she is by the girl. It’s a nice moment that can be read a few different ways but I like that the shopgirl hunts her up on the beach afterward to try and make amends a bit and just spend a little simple time together.

In Summary:
This episode is extra cute when you realize that the shopgirl’s voice actress won a contest and that this was her first role. I’m sure those really invested in Japanese voice acting can tell the difference but she comes across well here, like a natural to my ears, and made for a good companion in playing against Null for the episode and holding her own. It’s a really adorable episode overall and the minor fanservice is handled in the right way to make it silly and natural while keeping Peta’s involvement minimal overall.
