Kadokawa Schedules e’Case File nº221: Kabukicho’ Anime BoxSets

The fall 2019 anime series originally had the itle of The Denizens of Kabuki-chō that Production I.G. then revealed that it will go by the name of Kabukicho Sherlock. With the overseas pickups, the fall 2019 season that Funimation has been releasing under the title Case File nº221: Kabukicho. Now, Kadokawa has set the home video release for this split-cour series with it set to begin on January 24th, 2020. The series will get four sets with six episodes each where the DVDs are priced at 16,000 yen each and the Blu-rays at 18,000 yen each. Check the full schedule below.

We’re still just gonna call it Kabukicho.

The show has Ai Yoshimura directing it with Taku Kishimoto handling the scripting side. Toshiyuki Yahai is on board with the character designs and Production I.G. on the anime production.

The previously announced Japanese cast includes Katsuyuki Konishi as Sherlock, Yūichi Nakamura as John H. Watson, Seiichirō Yamashita as James Moriarty, Sōma Saitō as Fuyuto Kyogoku, Nao Tōyama as Mary Morstan, Mariko Higashiuchi as Lucy Morstan, Yutaka Aoyama as Michel Belmont, Tatsumaru Tachibana as Toratarō Kobayashi, Seiichirō Yamashita as James Moriarty, and Junichi Suwabe as Mrs. Hudson.

The series features the opening and closing sequences “CAPTURE” by EGO-WRAPPIN’ and “Hyakuoku Kounen (百億光年)” by Lozareena respectively.

Plot Concept: The East Side of Shinjuku Ward … The neon-lit Kabuki-chō district stretches across the center of this chaotic city. Where light shines, there are also deep shadows. Yet even deep in this darkness where evildoers lurk, the light of a detective tenement shines. The tenement run by Mrs. Hudson has seven peculiar, shady individuals. The curtain has risen on this stage on the night when a bizarre murder by Jack the Ripper has occurred. Is this suspense? No, comedy? An indistinguishable drama is about to begin…
