We learned back in August that the Disney+ service will be bringing a She-Hulk live-action series out down the line and there’s definitely a lot of interest in how this project will come together. We’ve now got our first clue as it was revealed that Jessica Gao has come on board as the showrunner for the series to work with Marvel Studios. Gao is a long-time veteran on the Rick & Morty series and gained fame for her Emmy win for the “Pickle Rick” episode. She has a lot of other writing credits including Sillicon Valley and Take My Wife along with Robot Chicken.
The character has been done both serious and silly and a few plans in-between. With a number of miniseries, takeovers of other series, and series of her own, she’s got an audience but has had a hard time carrying her own title for too long. One of the more interesting ones was the recent series from Charles Soule where it focused on her as a lawyer and dealing with cases involving superheroes, villains, and the like and very grounded in law itself. That could provide quite the unique hook to expand her into various corners of the MCU.
