NHK has confirmed a new season is in the works with an all-new staff but a largely returning cast. With original creator Yasuhisa Hara supervising it, the confirmed returning cast includes Masakazu Morita as Shin (Xin), Jun Fukuyama as Ei Sei (Yin Zheng), and Rie Kugimiya as Karyō Ten (He Liao Diao). The new production team will be revealed later.

Hara confirmed that this season will cover the Alliance arc of the manga.
