‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ Sequel Set

2 min read

The release of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in December has gone well for Sony Pictures as the film gobbled up about $375 million worldwide in theaters alone. We knew that a sequel was coming and that it would take time because that’s how animation rolls, but now Sony has scheduled an April 8th, 2022 release date. The main production team and cast are going to be coming back for it and hopefully, it’ll utilize the post-credits sequence as part of its inspiration.

The first film made its way to home video as a February 26th, 2019 release digitally while the physical media releases landed on March 19th, 2019 as DVD/BD and 4K versions are coming for it. What’s really impressive is that there’s close to 90-minutes of bonus materials coming, though sadly there are no director commentaries that would be really neat considering the folks involved and how this all comes together.

Directed by Bob Persichetti and Peter Ramsey, it comes from a screenplay by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. The cast for it includes Shameik Moore as Miles Morales / Spider-Man, Liev Schreiber, Mahershala Ali as Aaron Davis / Prowler, and Brian Tyree Henry as Jefferson Davi.

Plot Concept: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask.
