The summer 2018 anime series Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight is a new lease on life as revealed during a concert for the multimedia property this past weekend. With a teaser video released that you can see below, a compilation film is being produced that will arrive next summer in Japan and will be followed up at a later date with a new original film. No date was given on that one but generally a compilation film is released not that far from a new original film so it could be as early as this time next year.
Tomohiro Furukawa directed the show based on the series composition by Tatsuto Higuchi. Hiroyuki Saita is on board with the character designs while Kinema Citrus will be handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Momoyo Koyama as Karen Aijou, Suzuko Mimori as Hikari Kaguya, Maho Tomita as Maya Tendou, Hinata Satou as Junna Hoshimi, Haruki Iwata as Mahiru Tsuyuzaki, Moeka Koizumi as Nana Daiba, Aina Aiba as Christine Saijou, Teru Ikuta as Futaba Isuruzaki, and Ayasa Itou as Kaoruko Hanayagi.

Plot concept: Starlight—this is “Revue” of song and dance that’s loved worldwide. Karen and Hikari, who caught their hearts by the stage, made promise to each other when they were young. “Let’s stand on that stage together one day, for sure!” Time passes, and now Karen Aijou is 16 years old, who continues her lessons enthusiastically to keep her promise. The one who transferred to her school is Hikari Kagura, who was separated when they were young. The destiny starts to move with the reunion, and a mysterious audition starts.
“Do you want to be a top star?”
The person who passed the audition gets to be the lone top star that can get to shine. The only one that can get it is the “Revue” who stands above the battle royal stage. Karen and Hikari, as well as the chosen stage girls, participate to a mysterious Revue to make their dreams come true. Shining dream. Burning passion. Dreams that cannot give up to others. “Even if I have to fight against her!—”
Revue Starlight that mixes comedy and tragedy—starts now!
