‘Zoku Owarimonogatari’ Anime Adaptation Reveals Premiere

The continued adaptation of the Owarimonogatari material resulted in the arrive of this series, which about a year ago began its home video release.  The Koyomi Reverse arc adaptation with Zoku Owarimonogatari had a November 10th, 2018 theatrical release. The home video release side for Japan was set with the first part arriving on February 27th, 2019 and the second on March 27th, 2019 with the six parts split between them.

With that all wrapped up, Aniplex USA has now stepped in and scheduled their release for the series. The six-part project will be done as a single set with two discs. It’s scheduled for a January 28th, 2020 release date priced at $74.98 as the SRP but can be sold for as low as $59.98. The release is in Japanese with English subtitles and the on-disc extras include the clean opening and closings, promos, and commercials. Pack-in extras include a booklet and a postcard set.

The first season saw Akiyuki Shinbo serving as the overall director and handling series composition, it was again be animated at Shaft. Akio Watanabe is on board as the character designer and chief animation director as well.

Plot Concept: During October of his third year in high school, Koyomi Araragi is introduced to a transfer student named Ougi Oshino by his underclassman Kanbaru Suruga. Ougi tells Koyomi that she has something she wishes to consult with him. When she draws the map of Naoestu High School, she finds something peculiar on the map of Naoetsu High School she draws. This discovery reveals a tale that wasn’t meant to be told, and this makes Koyomi’s high school life totally different. This is the story that brings to light “what” makes Koyomi Araragi. This is the story that reveals the “beginning” of everything.
