‘Pennyworth’ Gets Served A Second Season

2 min read

The first season of Pennyworth was a big move for Epix as they offered the first three episodes of the ten-episode run for free before keeping the rest on their subscription service. I thoroughly enjoyed those episodes and am waiting for a decent deal on a digital or home video release before I get into it in full. And it’ll be with a bit more confidence as they’ve now given the green light to a second season. The second season is being slotted for ten episodes as well and will begin filming in January in the UK.

Pennyworth has been a big hit for us, embraced by critics and fans alike,” Epix President Michael Wright said, “It was the highest-performing original series ever to premiere on Epix, more than doubling the viewership of the shows that came before it. Bruno Heller, Danny Cannon, and WBTV have delivered a brilliant, must-watch series. We can’t wait to work with this phenomenal cast and creative team on another exciting season.”

The cast includes Jack Bannon as Alfred Pennyworth, Ben Aldridge as Thomas Wayne, Ryan Fletcher as Dave Boy, Hainsley Lloyd Bennett as Bazza, Paloma Faith as Bet Sykes, Jason Flemyng as Lord Harwood, Emma Paetz as Martha Kane, Polly Walker as Peggy Sykes, and Jessica Ellerby as The Queen.

Plot Concept: Pennyworth is based on DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. It follows Bruce Wayne’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth, a former British SAS soldier who forms a security company and goes to work with Thomas Wayne, Bruce’s billionaire father, in 1960’s London.
