“The Battle for Clover Castle”

What They Say:
In a world where magic is everything, Asta and Yuno are both found abandoned at a church on the same day. While Yuno is gifted with exceptional magical powers, Asta is the only one in this world without any. At the age of fifteen, both receive grimoires, magic books that amplify their holder’s magic. Asta’s is a rare Grimoire of Anti-Magic that negates and repels his opponent’s spells. Being opposite but good rivals, Yuno and Asta are ready for the hardest of challenges to achieve their common dream: to be the Wizard King. Giving up is never an option!

The reincarnated elves of the Golden Dawn gather at the entrance of Clover Castle. Naturally, there are guards posted there and they refuse to allow them inside. A few of the elves sneak in anyways while four of them stay to fight the guards. It’s not much of a fight as the elves annihilate all the guards effortlessly. Yami and Langris arrive on the scene a few moments later and begin clashing with the elves. Things aren’t going well for the duo since they’re outnumbered four to two, not to mention that the elves’ increased magical power is proving to be quite troublesome. Their numbers increase when the captain of the Green Mantis squad, Jack the Ripper, joins the fight.

Now that they have two captains on their side, things should be a piece of cake, right? Well, not exactly. Even with the two captains, the situation doesn’t change. Their attacks aren’t really having an effect. Langris is nervous because even the power of two captains isn’t enough. However, it seems like Yami and Jack are enjoying themselves? They’re trading insults at each other and laughing the whole time. Honestly, I love when these two get together. You know you’re guaranteed a fun time when they do! After some amusing back and forth banter, Yami tells Jack that it’s about time they stop playing around. Yup, they weren’t fighting at full power. Once they got serious, they overpowered the elves and soundly defeated them. Oh, and Langris helped too. Jack remarks that he’d like to use him sometime but Yami quickly shuts that down. He’s not about to allow his convenient ride to be taken away from him. See? Always a fun time with these two.

Elsewhere, one of the elves has breached the Silva residence. Kivn, who has reincarnated into the body of Golden Dawn member Letoile Becquerel, is killing everyone in sight. There are bodies all over the place. Dang, she is not messing around. One of the nobles still alive grabs a servant girl to use as a shield. He is quickly impaled and Kivn comments that she doesn’t miss her target. She then proceeds to murder the servant girl because hey, she was going to kill all the humans anyway. That was pretty messed up. This scene perfectly encapsulated the deep hatred that the elves harbor towards humanity. They said they would kill all the humans and they meant it.

With all this commotion going on in the Silva residence, one has to wonder where are the Silvas? Solid is in his room still recovering from his battle with his sister Noelle in the Royal Knights selection exam. He still hasn’t accepted the fact that he lost to her. Nebra, who is watching over her brother, starts feeling uneasy. A few seconds later, Kivn breaks through the door. Nebra uses her Mist Magic to quickly create clones of herself. She arrogantly proclaims that she’ll play with the elf for a bit. However, she is stabbed in the abdomen by a compass needle in the blink of an eye. How could the elf tell which one was the real her!? Kivn’s Compass Magic allowed her to detect the real one almost immediately. I have to admit that Compass Magic is pretty badass. Solid attempts to attack Kivn with his magic but its easily deflected away. Things certainly aren’t looking good for brother and sister here.

Luckily for them, help is on the way! Captain Nozel’s party finally arrives. Yami tells Nozel that his residence is being attacked. He decides to head there right away and is joined by his sister Noelle and Zora. Everyone else stays with Yami and his group outside. They encounter an elf on their way there but Nozel promptly disposes of him. There’s a reason why he’s the captain of the Silver Eagles! They make it to Solid’s room just in time and Nozel blocks Kivn’s attack that would have surely killed his brother. Noelle unleashes her Sea Dragon’s Roar spell but it also deflected by Kivn. None of their attacks seem to be getting through. Nebra, realizing that she’s only being a hindrance at this point, decides to help everyone escape by creating a mist. Unfortunately, Kivn will not allow anyone to escape and activates her Another Atlas spell which disrupts all the mana in the room. That can’t be good. She then proceeds to fire off a bunch of compass needles at the group. Nozel positions himself in front of his family and blocks most of the needles. A few do manage to pierce him though. Solid is scared but Noelle assures him that everything is going to be okay. She can still fight! She repeats that line to herself over and over again. Nozel closes the episode by telling Noelle that it’s time to show them their true power. I absolutely love that Noelle is being acknowledged by her brother. Nozel has been praising her this entire episode and it’s nice to see. Hopefully, Solid and Nebra will come around as well.

In Summary:
Things have certainly picked up! It seems we’re about to enter a stretch of fighting and I couldn’t be more excited for it. We haven’t seen much of Kivn/Letoile so I wasn’t expecting too much out of her. In fact, I honestly thought that she’d be defeated during this episode. Clearly, I was wrong. I was not expecting her Compass Magic to be so fascinating either. Definitely a pleasant surprise. The Yami and Jack moments were great and their scenes together always make me laugh. I also loved that Noelle was finally getting the respect she deserves. It looks like she’s going to be the star of next week’s episode. Can’t wait to see it!
