Announced at the start of the month, a new feature film in the Ojamajo Doremi world is coming that’s been formally scheduled for the summer 2020 period next year. Going under the name Majo Minarai o Sagashite, which translates to Looking for Witch Apprentices, it’ll be directed by Junichi Sato based on the screenplay by Midori Kuriyama. Yoshihiko Umakoshi is on board with the character designs with Toei Animation handling the production.

The film has now been set for a May 15th, 2020 debut as part of TIFF. The story for it has also been updated with a translation via ANN below.

Check out the first teaser below.

Plot Concept: The story follows 27-year-old Tokyo office worker Mire Yoshitsuki who just returned to Japan, 22-year-old fourth-year college student Sora Nagase who aspires to be a teacher, and 20-year-old boyish, part-time Hiroshima okonomiyaki shop worker and freelancer Reika Kawatani. What draws together these three women from completely different walks of life is a magic gem. A “New Magical Story” begins when they are mysteriously brought together by chance and embark on a journey.
