2 min read

A new anime adaptation is in the works with the reveal that Darwin’s Game is getting one as we learned back in November 2018. Scheduled for a January 2020 premiere, the official site has updated with some details and a new promotional video. With three more cast members announced, we also learned that Yoshinobu Tokumoto is directing based on the scripts by Shu Miyama. Kazuya Nakanishi is on board for the character designs with Nexus handling the animation production.

The new Japanese cast additions include:

  • Nichika Omori as Rain
  • Taku Yashiro as Ryūji
  • Yumiri Hanamori as Sui/Sōta

The previously announced Japanese cast includes:

  • Yūsuke Kobayashi as Kaname
  • Reina Ueda is Shuka

The manga comes from creator FLIPFLOPs which began in 2012 as serialized in Bessatsu Shonen Champion. It has sixteen volumes out as of the original announcement and over two million copies in print in total for the run.

This isn’t the first anime adaptation of their works as we previously saw The Everyday Tales of a Cat God adapted.

Check out the official site and Twitter.

Plot Concept: The series focuses on Kaname Sudō, a high school boy who is drawn to a mysterious game app titled “Darwin’s Game.” He becomes involved in a social game where the stakes are life or death.
