Funimation Adds ‘Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode Oracle’ Anime Opening & Closing Streaming

A new attempt at bringing the Phantasy Star Online 2 game to anime form is underway with Episode Oracle as part of the fall 2019 season. Funimation picked up the series for simulcast previously and now to draw a little more attention to it they’ve got a look at the opening sequence with the song “Destiny” by Aimee Blackschleger as well as the ending sequence which features the song “Timeless Fortune ” by Mika Arisaka.

The twenty-five episode series will have the first three episodes recompiling the story of “episodes 1-3” of the original game. The series is directed by Masaki Tachibana based on the series composition by Hiroshi Ohnogi. Shinpei Koikawa is handling the character designs while GONZO is handling the animation production with Felix Film working on the 3DCG.

The Japanese cast includes Daisuke Ono as Ash, Hiro Shimono as Afin, Satomi Satou as Matoi, Megumi Ogata as Xion, Ryohei Kimura as Zeno, Yōko Hikasa as Echo, Takahiro Sakurai as Luther, Nobuo Tobita as Gettemhart, and Kana Hanazawa as Melphonshina.

Aimee Blackschleger will perform the opening song “Destiny” while the ending theme song “Timeless Fortune” is performed by Mika Arisaka.

Plot Concept: With the advent of Photon technology, the spacefaring Oracle fleet searches for new planets to explore. They combat the Falspawn, abominations that consume all life in their path, with the fearless heroes of the ARKS organization. When his graduation ceremony is crashed by a Falspawn attack, young Cadet Ash realizes that he’s just been thrust in the middle of a universal-scale conflict.
