The new Fruits Basket complete anime series is underway and the first season for it has wrapped up with twenty-five episodes. While no season was set for the second season, the official site dropped the news (see the tweet below) that it’ll arrive in 2020. We’ll speculate that it’ll hit the two-cour mark like the first and appear in the spring, giving the production time to work on touching up the first for home video release while also getting work done on the second season.
And that season is going to be a thrill for a lot of fans as it’s going to feature largely material that wasn’t animated before. Which we get our first taste of in this minute-long clip that Funimation has brought out in subtitled form.
The English cast includes Laura Bailey as Tohru Honda, Eric Vale as Yuki Soma, Jerry Jewel as Kyo Soma, John Burgmeier as Shigura Soma, Tia Ballard as Kagura Soma, Mikaela Krantz as Momiji Krantz, Justin Cook as Hatsuharu Soma, Kent Williams as Hatori Soma, Elizabeth Maxwell as Arisa Uotani, Colleen Clinkenbeard has come on as Akito Soma, Christopher R. Sabat as Ayame Soma, and Jad Saxton as Saki Hanajima
The new series has Yoshihide Ibata directing based on the series composition by Taku Kishimoto. Masaru Shindo is handling the character designs with TMS Entertainment handling the production.
The Japanese cast includes Manaka Iwami as Tohru Honda, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Yuki Sohma, Yūma Uchida as Kyo Sohma, Yūichi Nakamura as Shigure Sohma, Atsumi Tanezaki as Arisa Uotani, Satomi Satou as Saki Hanajima, Kazuyuki Okitsu as Hatori Sōma, Maaya Sakamoto as Akito Sohma, Takahiro Sakurai as Ayame Sōma, and Miyuki Sawashiro as Kyoko Honda.
