Marvel Studios Sets ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’ Writer

2 min read

With the intent on being the first “scary” film set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios back in July 2019 announced Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. The film brings back Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role with Scott Derrickson returning to direct it. Derrickson has a solid scary film background but it’ll still be within the realm of PG-13, though that can definitely hit some good solid marks.

According to Collider, they’ve learned that Jade Barlett has come on board to write the screenplay with Derrickson. Barlett gained attention a couple of years ago with the Black List unproduced screenplay Miller’s Girl which got picked up by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s production company. She’s written a few screenplays since then that are in various stages of production with Mad, Bad, and Dangerous to Know and The Turning.

We also learned at the time that the events of the upcoming WandaVision Disney+ series are going to feed into this film and Elizabeth Olsen will be playing Scarlet Witch in the film.

Property Concept: Stephen Strange was a brilliant but arrogant neurosurgeon who, after a career-ending accident, discovers a world of sorcery, magic and world-bending dynamics that inevitably turns him into a superhero figure.
