What They Say:
Lou’s cosmic adventures lead him to a survivor of a terrible galactic war. Beyond tales of past woe, this new ally seems to hold the key to future peace. Meanwhile, Premier Peely takes further steps to advance his sinister plans of galactic domination.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
Betrayal and conquer are two basic human acts that humans like to engage in. But in this comic, it applies to all life forms. The aliens from the Planet Cillian had become a superior species and had conquered various planets. The conquered gather up and destroy their conquerors. This leads to one survivor, Alix, who is out on a mission to save as many lifeforms as he can to make up for the actions of his people. He is also the Flower-Maker, the being who makes the item that humanity desires. Alix had a nice backstory and clear motivations but I think his introduction is done rather quickly and then the comic moves on. It doesn’t have a strong impact on the story Alix plays a good hero who is suffering from his past but a sense of mystery is created to set up a question if he is truly is the hero in this story.

Something this series has been missing is a figurehead that stands as the true villain of the story. Premier Peely has been seen in the background in past issues and finally makes a full appearance. Premier Peely makes for an intriguing villain as he is a servant to the lords of humanity but secretly harbors the ambition to destroy the lords and become the only lord. The only reason he sees an energy crisis as a negative is that it slows down humanity’s conquest of the universe. He is convinced that he is the chosen hero and that his ideals will become the driving force for humanity’s future.

One thing that bothers me in this issue is the pacing in this issue. The story is moving pretty quick. It doesn’t give you a full moment to slow down and grasp the impact of these characters. Alix’s character arc is just moving too fast. I understand the way he acts and his thoughts but there are moments where the story can slow down and fully embrace his character development. Adding a page that goes more into detail into Alix’s greatest tragedy. The story slows down a bit during Premier Peely’s arc as his villain characteristics are a bit easier to demonstrate. Adding an extra page about why he sees himself as humanity’s savior or why he wants to become their savior would be a nice way to further add to his persona.

These two sides give some clear way for Lou to move on to the future. Lou is moved to a minor role in this issue and that works out perfectly in this issue. As Lou is given a minor role, he plays an essential role as he is being brought forth into the world of man and the complicated emotions that come with it. His innocence is being tested as to whether he can remain a cat with few worries or live like the humans that take care of him. This change of self is a wonderful take to see that highlights the difference between the roles of good and evil.

In Summary:
This issue suffers from pacing issues as some characters are given a backstory and motivations but not enough time is given for these to sink in. The characters feel like genuine beings with distinct emotional traits which is the strongest aspect of this issue. The stage is set for the story to move into the climax as Lou has to decide what his fate and that of all lifeforms will be.
