‘Star Trek Discovery’ Gets Third Season NYCC Trailer

Get carried into the future.

The second season of Star Trek: Discovery wrapped up in a big way and delivered exactly the kind of cliffhanger I wanted and a chance to really do something new. CBS All Access renewed the series for a third season back in February and revealed that Michelle Paradise will serve as co-showrunner with Alex Kurtzman. Paradise has been involved in the second season as a co-executive producer and it’s the season where Kurtzman took over as showrunner.

With the third season in our future, the first teaser for it landed at the panel for it today at NYCC and it’s most definitely that – a tease. No firm date is set yet beyond 2020.

The cast includes Sonequa Martin-Green as Rainsford, Doug Jones as Saru, Anthony Rapp as Stamets, James Frain as Sarek, Terry Serpico as Anderson, Maulik Pancholy as Nambue, Sam Vartholomeos as Connor, Michelle Yeoh as Georgiou, Shazad Latif as Kol, Chris Obi as T’Kuvma and Mary Chieffo as L’Rell.

Alex Kurtzman will serve as executive producer for the new Star Trek TV series. Kurtzman and Heather Kadin will serve as executive producers.

Plot concept: Season Two finds the crew of the USS Discovery joining forces with Capt. Christopher Pike on a new mission to investigate seven mysterious red signals and the appearance of an unknown being called the Red Angel. While the crew must work together to unravel their meaning and origin, Michael Burnham is forced to face her past with the return of her estranged brother, Spock.
