It’s not easy being a transfer student.

What They Say:
School life — it’s an experience that everyone should have, and no one should take for granted. Of course, everyone knows that the most enviable way to spend high school is as the most popular person in class. Transfer student Urata has decided that his high school debut will be brilliant, and as he reaches nervously for the door — it happens. In his way stand fellow high school students Shima, Sakata, and Senra! Are they enemies? Allies? Or something else entirely?! This heart-pounding transfer school youth story is about to begin! less

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
This short-form series, playing off a bigger property with the performers playing their roles here, introduces us to Urata, a high school student that has just transferred into a new place. The show is the whole cute boys doing cute things plot in the space of about three minutes once you extract the credits. With the show done in chibi style, Urata’s arrival is one that has him nervous about how it’s going to work out and he kind of makes it worse from the start with a poor debut by having such a bland story. What helps is that we get the arrival of Sakata first to distract, who is a transfer student himself. Shima’s arrival from above goes poorly as nothing happens as it should and then it rounds out with the fourth and final transfer student, Senra, who sends them into a panic until they realize what he is as well.

In Summary:
The idea of four transfer students is certainly comical and homeroom goes about as poorly as it could, which with Urata as our lead and view into this world means he’s going to have a rough time. The show is basically just introductions with personality types so it’s pretty basic with what it does here. There are a few laughs and I can see their personalities working well for it as it progresses and that this’ll be a minimal-thinking kind of show with cute gags and little more. Maybe a little heart, but not much beyond that.
