The second season of Osomatsu didn’t go over as big as the first season but it received a feature film with arrived back in March 2019. That’s now getting its home video release which is being handled by Avex Pictures and they’ve gone a fairly standard style for release when it comes to feature films and the cover artwork that has now arrived is about what you’d expect. There are four versions available with:

  • BD-Box: 9,800 yen
  • BD: 6,800 yen
  • DVD-Box: 8,800 yen
  • DVD: 5,800 yen

The releases are set for a November 6th, 2019 debut where the box set editions come with a bonus Cd with details to be determined.

Based on the manga by Fujio Akatsuka that ran from 1962 to 1969 and had a couple of revivals along the way, it had an adaptation in the mid 60′s and then a remake in the late 80′s. This series is serving as a sequel to it with the same animation studio from the 80′s involved, albeit with a new creative team. The original series focused on the six kids when they were young but this one takes a look at them as adults now and how their lives turned out.

Directed by Yoichi Fujita, the film is animated by Studio Pierrot based on the screenplay by Shu Matsubara and character designs by Naoyuki Asano.

The series stars Takahiro Sakurai as the eldest son Osomatsu, Yūichi Nakamura as the second son Karamatsu, Hiroshi Kamiya as the third son Choromatsu, Jun Fukuyama as the fourth son Ichimatsu, Daisuke Ono as the fifth son Jūshimatsu, Miyu Irino as the sixth and youngest son Todomatsu, Aya Endo as the heroine Totoko, Kenichi Suzumura as Iyami and Sachi Kokuryu as Chibita.

Plot Concept: The sextuplets attend a high school class reunion. There, they see all their former classmates who have become “proper” adults with company jobs. The sextuplets sulk about this and go home and drink until they fall asleep. But when they wake up, a certain scene awaits them.
