New ‘Record of Lodoss War’ Novel Gets Manga Adaptation

More Lodoss goodness!

It’s been a long time since we had anything new on the novel front from the Record of Lodoss War property but we learned earlier this year that something new is coming. Revealed as part of the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko 30th-Anniversary Festival event at the time, a new project was set to come out on April 1st, 2019 with Record of Lodoss War: The Pledged Diadem but ended up with an August 1st, 2019 debut.

While the focus was on the novel, I had missed that a manga adaptation was being prepared for that. It’s being produced by artist Atsushi Suzumi and is set to appear in the next installment of Shonen Ace magazine that arrives on October 26th, 2019. You can see a full-color visual here along with some black and white pages.

The novel comes from Ryo Mizuno with illustrations being done by Hidari. It’s supposed to be set a hundred years after the events of the more well-known material to date and a key visual was released for it as well to the right.

Property Concept: Created from the aftermath of the last great battle of the gods, Lodoss and its kingdoms have been plagued by war for thousands of years. As a quiet peace and unity finally become foreseeable over the land, an unknown evil begins to stir. An ancient witch has awakened, bent on preserving the island of Lodoss by creating political unbalance throughout the many kingdoms and keeping any one from maintaining central control. Only a mixed-race party of six young champions, led by the young warrior Parn, stand between this new threat and Lodoss’ decent back into the darkness of war and destruction.
