Sony Planning ‘Madame Web’ Spider-Man Universe Film

1 min read

With Sony Pictures looking to build their Spider-Man universe of films now that it’s separate from Marvel Studios on the character, it looks like another project is coming together that makes a lot of sense and will give them a lot of lattitude – including a potential live-action Spider-Verse project down the line.

It’s been revealed that the studio has brought in the writers for Morbius with Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless to write a Madame Web film. The character goes back to 1980 when she was created by Denny O’Neil and John Romita Jr. Essentially a precog that’s tied into the greater web, she’s shown up in the comics over the years in different forms as well as the animated series and some of the games. With her being a tie to seeing the greater Spider-Verse, the potential is there to take that animated film and bring those characters to life in live-action form.
