Nozomi Entertainment is continuing to work with Funimation in bringing over some of their titles and one new one that has hit is a favorite with Sweet Blue Flowers. The eleven episode series is available in its original Japanese language with English subtitles as it wasn’t dubbed previously. Availability is limited to the US and Canada where original licensor Nozomi holds the rights to it.

Check out our review of the series.

Based on the manga series by Takako Shimura, which began back in 2004 and has eight volumes when it ended in 2013, Sweet Blue Flowers is an eleven episode series that definitely plays the interesting field of high school romance between several girls in two different schools. Shimura’s worked on some interesting titles over the years with the Wandering Son anime adaptation really making an impression.

Plot concept: Tears have always come easily to Fumi, but as a child she could always count on her best friend, Akira, to cheer her up. After a decade apart, Fumi and Akira find themselves reunited by chance. But even as the two girls rediscover their friendship, with the start of the new school year Fumi becomes romantically involved with a tall, charismatic girl named Sugimoto. Fumi soon finds herself playing a balancing act between friendship and love.
