The ‘My Girlfriend is Shobitch’ Manga Ends

3 min read

With the anime adaptation of the My Girlfriend is Shobitch manga out there, the manga itself hasn’t had much luck in being produced in English. That may be a bit harder now that the series from Namiru Matsumoto has ended as of the September 13th, 2019k installment through various digital distributors. The 87th chapter was the final one for it and the eighth and final collected volume will arrive on December 10th, 2019. The series began in 2015 through Niconico Seiga before getting distribution on a few other platforms.

The show is being directed by Nobuyoshi Nagayama based on the series composition from Hideki Shirane. Sachiko Yasuda is handling the character designs with animation produced by Diomedea.

The English dub was directed by Kyle Jones and the cast includes Gareth West as Shinozaki, Katelyn Barr as Akiho, Christina Kelly as Shizuku, Amber Lee Connors as Rina, Brittany Lauda as Kanata, Joslin Johnson as Igarashi, Daman Mills as Seiya, Rachael Messer as Fuyumi, Alan Brincks as Natsuo, Margaret McDonald as Misaki, Juliet Simmons as Shizumori, Courtney Lomelo as Koshimizu, Carolyn Johnson as Omori, Scott Gibbs as Kurono, Tyler Galindo as Emisawa, Avery Smithhart, Mike Haimoto, Nathan Wilson, and Caitlynn French.

The Japanese cast includes Aoi Yuuki as Akiho Kousaka, Mitsuhiro Ichiki as Haruka Shinozaki, Rarisa Tako Takeda as Shizuku Ariyama, Natsumi Yamada as Rina Saijou, Yuki Yagi as Kanada Shinozaki, Juri Nagatsuma as Saori Igarashi, Miki Hase as Sayo Shizumori, Marin Mizutani as Misaki Aikawa, Arthur Lounsbery as Seiya Hoshikawa, Megumi Nakamura as Ichika Omori, Iori Nomizu as Aoi Koshimizu, Ayasa Itō as Huyumi Kōsaka, and Jun Miyamoto as Natsuo Shinozaki.

The opening theme song by Aoi Yuki with “Eternal Labyrinth” while the ending theme song “Ai no Himitsu” will be performed by several of the main voice actresses.

Plot Concept: When Haruka asks his classmate Akiho to go out with him, he’s hoping that she’ll say ‘yes’. What he isn’t expecting is for her to agree, then approach their relationship with an emotionally detached attitude as if she was writing a research paper with sex as the topic! It’s all about maximizing compatibility, Akiho says, but when preparation for a first date requires Haruka to divulge a comprehensive list of his sexual fetishes in advance for planning purposes, perhaps there’s something to be said for getting to know each other the old-fashioned way! And if Akiho’s clinical approach isn’t awkward enough, things get really weird when it’s time to meet the parents and Haruka learns where Akiho’s odd demeanor comes from! It’s the romantic comedy where T.M.I. and A-Type personalities collide in MY GIRLFRIEND IS SHOBITCH!
